FOCAC Beijing Summit historical, fruitful, and highly successful: says Chinese Ambassador Liu Guijin while visiting Kwazulu-Natal Province
2006/11/24

The Focac Beijing Summit, graced by 48 African countries, is a fruitful and highly successful gathering, and the new strategic partnership between China and Africa and China-South Africa relationship will be brought to a higher pedestal by mutual efforts, says H.E.Mr. Liu Guijin, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, during his study tour to Kwazulu-Natal Province from November 20 to November 23. According to Liu, Chinese and African leaders have held discussions upon China-Africa cooperation and endorsed a very important political document during the just concluded Summit. President Mbeki also paid a very successful state visit to China. 3 days after his returning to South Africa, the President published an online article entitled "At the Heavenly Gate in Beijing hope is born!", which speaks highly of the Beijng Summit, China-Africa Cooperation and China-South africa relationship.

When visiting a local textile factory, Ambassador. Liu said that China-South Africa trade cooperation develops very fast and has huge potential. The development of China's economy is based upon domestic demands. China and South Africa are seeking a win-win trade relationship. China hopes that its kind gesture of imposing quota restriction upon some Chinese textile products could be understood and could bring practical effects.

During his visit, Ambassador Liu met top brass of the provincial government and MP. He was also invited to attend the International Symposium on JUNCAO Industry Development and delivered a short speech promising to support the further development of the JUNCAO Project. The speech was warmly welcomed by the officials, scholars and over 3000 locals at the symposium.
