H.E. Mr. Zhong Jianhua, Ambassador of China to South Africa Visits Bulwer in KwaZulu-Natal
2008/08/15

At the invitation of H.E. Dr NC Dlamini-Zuma, Foreign Minister of South Africa, H.E. Mr. Zhong Jianhua, Ambassador of China to South Africa and his wife Ms Lu Qingjiang visited Bulwer in the province of KwaZulu-Natal on 11 August. Bulwer is the town where Minister Zuma grew up.

Minister Zuma briefed Ambassador Zhong on the development of the local community, which is mainly featured by agricultural activities. But in recent years, people engaged in agricultural production has become less and less. Just recently, a group of 15 local youths set up a team committing themselves to local development. They are, however, trying very hard to find a starting point in this aspect.

Ambassador Zhong expressed the wish that the Chinese Embassy is willing to offer any assistance within its own capacity. He also recommended the Mushroom Project by the Chinese experts at the town of Cedera, also in KwaZulu-Natal. Ambassador Zhong and his wife also attended a meeting between the local community and relevant officials from the provincial and local development agencies.

The local community gave very warm welcome to Ambassador Zhong and his wife with traditional dances and songs.
