H.E. Ambassador-designate Lin Songtian Presents the Letter of Credence to President Jacob Zuma

The Chinese ambassador-designate to South Africa, Lin Songtian presented the Letter of Credence to Jacob Zuma, President of the Republic of South Africa at Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria on 24 August.

H.E. Mr. Lin conveyed the best regards from President Xi Jinping. He said that the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and South Africa maintains a strong momentum of development and that bilateral relations are in the best period of history, thanks to the personal care and efforts of the two Presidents. Amb. Lin emphasized that he is deeply proud to be designated the new ambassador and expressed his readiness to work closely with South Africa to promote the implementation of the important consensus reached by the two Presidents to translate the political mutual trust and cooperation potential of the two countries into real results of development, so that cooperation between the two countries became more productive and mutually beneficial to both countries and peoples. Amb. Lin said that China looks forward to President Zuma's visit to China to attend the BRICS Summit, to jointly plan the future of BRICS cooperation and launch the second "golden decade" of BRICS cooperation.

President Zuma asked Ambassador Lin to convey his cordial greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping and warmly welcomed Ambassador Lin to assume his office in South Africa. President Zuma said that South Africa attaches great importance to the development the relations between South Africa and China and is willing to further promote friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields and expand friendly exchanges between the two peoples, to ensure the relations between the two countries better benefit the two countries and the two peoples. President Zuma said that he looks forward to attending the BRICS Xiamen Summit and is ready to join hands with Chinese and other BRICS members to continuously enhance the unity and cooperation among BRICS countries to safeguard the common interest of all developing countries. President Zuma assured Amb. Lin of all convenience and assistance to fulfill his duty.

Cousellor Ni Lingling, the spouse of Amb. Lin, and Dr. Cassius Lubisi, the Director Genenral of Presidency, and Amb. Sooklal, Acting Director General of DIRCO attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Lin Songtian arrived in Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa on 9 August, and submitted the copy of the credentials to Ambassador N N Losi-Tutu, Chief of State Protocol.
