Headed by Mr. Ma Zhong Ping, a Member of the Standing Committee of CPC, Shaanxi Province of China and the Head of the Publicity Department of the Province, a 10-member Shaanxi Press Delegation paid a visit to South Africa from August 24th to September 3rd, during which a meeting with the officials from South African Government Communication and Information System was held for seeking the cooperation of the cultural exchanges between the two countries. An Activity entitled "Experiencing Shaanxi in South Africa" was also launched during their visit to South African National Library in Pretoria.

The cultural exchange activity included a Photography Exhibition with the theme of the Scenery and Life Style in Shaanxi, a DVD show of the nature, history and culture as well as a donation ceremony for sending 201 books and magazines with the variety of 139 kinds which were presented to the National Library of South Africa in Pretoria by the Chinese Delegation. "Chinese Civilization" is a fine publication of pictorial, which has the value of research and This activity has further enhanced the understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and South Africa.

Mr. Zhou Yue Xiao, the Minister Counselor of the Embassy of P. R. of China in South Africa and Mr. Liu Bing Zhong, Cultural Counselor also attended the donation ceremony which was held at the National Library on August 31. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Zhou donated almost a hundred of Chinese famous literature novels to the Library.
