| CHINESE FILM WEEK TO BE LAUNCHED IN SOUTH AFRICA |

| At the invitation of Department of Arts and Culture of South Africa, a 15-member Chinese Film Delegation headed by Ms. Zhao Shi, vice minister of the State Administration of Radio, Film & TV of the People's Republic of China, will pay a formal friendly visit to the South Africa from June 4th to 9th, 2007 to attend the launch of Chinese Film Week on the evening of June 5th, 2007 at Rosebank, Johannesburg. A Chinese movie THE KNOT, co-starred by famous Chinese actor Chen Kun, actresses Vivian Hsu (Taiwan) and Li Bingbing, will be released on the ceremony. The Chinese Film Week is joint-sponsored by the State Administration of Radio, Film & TV of the People's Republic of of China, the Department of Arts & Culture of South Africa and the Embassy of China in South Africa in accordance with the IMPLEMENTATION PROGRAMME UNDER THE AGREEMENT ON CO-OPERATION IN THE FIELDS OF ARTS AND CULTURE between the two countries. The formal screening of the movies is scheduled from the middle to the end of July at different cinemas in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town and 8 excellent Chinese movies which cover the subjects from those about the Chinese history and culture to those of the description of modern life of China since the reform and opening up to the outside world will be fed to the local audience. The holding of this Chinese Film Week is right before the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of South Africa and the upcoming visit of the Chinese delegation embodies the common positive wills of both sides in the field of film circle for promoting exchange and collaboration in the industry of film creation. During their stay in the South Africa, the Chinese delegation will respectively meet with the Minister of the Department of Arts and Culture of South Africa, the CEO of National Film & Video Foundation of South Africa and the President of MIH Company. They will also take the opportunity to meet with their colleagues in South Africa to exchange their artistic opinions and skills in the professional field for the purpose of promoting the joint cooperation and bring prosperity to the film worlds in both countries. |
